The Hunt
Freya walked alone among the trees of the slopes, unaffected by the winter's chill. Footprints led an aimless path as she left them behind, her long limbs carrying her gracefully over the forest's icy covered floor. The she wolf was seemingly lost, though in reality she had walked this area many times, enough to learn certain routes and the inhabitants that occupied the area. The winter months were unforgiving, in both weather and its food source. Most of the elk and deer herds had moved on, looking for warmer areas in which to feast upon the green grass. Here, the only green was from the giant spruce and evergreen trees. Everything else was a combination of grays. Padding along, the huntress parted her jaws her hot breath forming a cloud among the air. She turned her head this way and that, bright eyes looking for a trail, or perhaps a scent. Trotting by a fallen limb, the huntress paused suddenly at the sound of rustling. Had it been a busy month, she would not have heard it so easily, but among the quiet stillness of winter it echoed loudly.

Re: The Hunt
He strutted lightly through the parted trees. Swiftly tracing upriver. His paws swinging high with confidence, he was more than comfortable in these parts. The Veitchii slopes being a territory of the Draugr. He travelled north patrolling the surrounding area, taking every bush, tree and cave into consideration. His ears perked and tail hanging high, the morning musk softly sat on the river and the sounds of birds slowly waking up this was peaceful place. He reaches a separation in the river flow, unsure of which route to take today he breaks down by a small rock formation and slowly watches the mist rest and disappear from the river top. He almost falls into a swift slumber but a rustling of bushes on the far side of the river alerts him. He slenderly wades through the water desperate to find out watch could make such a noise in his territory. Positively certain he was in no danger he continues to walk with a high head and swinging paws he continues past the river, into the forest of spruce onto a sloped region could this be where I heard the noise? He asks himself.

▇ █ ▇ Y E K A T E R I N A I Think | I Speak Her paws carried her frame smoothly across the path, her hanging pendulum swaying between her taut haunches. Kats hips swayed lightly brushing against foliage dotted amongst the trees. The pathway was small, barely two feet wide; Cramped. She wasn't complaining. It hid her russet pelt from the eyes of many a prey... and a predator. She had been stalking a scent that was amidst the vegetation following it for miles till it had crossed the borders of her terrain and ran into that of another. It wouldn't have been all that interesting if she hadn't recognises that it held two familiar components; Fear and distraught. "Definitely a fleeing beastie." she muttered malevolent in tone, something that didn't erupt to the surface until the point of starvation. The difference in territories hadn't been an issue. Who owned the territory would be the mistake she made. These were the renowned slopes of Veitchii, a traitors land covered by blood. Many a life had been shed here in the grander eras where high kings ruled and fell from their peaks. The trees were practically dying during the final snows of winter, the compounds left being slowly melting away into the creek a mile down the hill. But it wasn't the cold that was pulling the life from these evergreens, it was the evil within leaving the destruction. An evil she didn't wish to face on this day. "Not this day..." a rumble escaped her throat, causing the words to gain a brief sharpness and edge. With that last statement she turned and began to waltz her way through the undergrowth with ease, only a slight rustle left behind by her sleek derma. Word Count: 279 |
